March 2016 — Siemon, a leading global network infrastructure specialist, has announced its acquisition of the Gigaduct fibre containment system from UK-based Gigacom Ltd. Under this definitive agreement, Siemon will acquire all existing Gigduct assets, inventory, tooling and customer base.

Gigaduct is a flexible raceway system for routing, managing and protecting fibre optic cables in data centres, colocation centres, service provider hosting and other fibre computing environments. Manufactured from halogen-free, flame-retardant plastics, the Gigduct system features easy-to-assemble ducts, fittings, bends and tees in various sizes to meet a wide range of fibre deployment needs. The system is designed to maintain bend radius and protect fibre from the most rigorous conditions. Easy-access covers enable fibre installation or removal without disconnecting the entire pathway system.

The transaction will expand Siemon’s existing portfolio of WheelHouse™ advanced data centre solutions that includes the company’s established line of copper and fibre cable and connectivity systems, high-speed interconnect assemblies, cabinets, cable management, power distribution and comprehensive data centre design services. This portfolio supports any size and type of data centre, from large super computing environments and colocations, to small-to-mid size enterprise data centres.

“We are excited to expand our data centre offering with the Gigaduct fibre containment system, which fits well into our WheelHouse solutions with expert data centre design services that will now include layout of this fibre ducting system,” says Tony Veatch, director of product management for Siemon. “With this acquisition and Siemon’s existing global footprint, we will have significant opportunity to expand Gigaduct’s reach and better serve our data centre customers around the world with a more comprehensive portfolio.”
