PQ test is one of the severe and important tests for EHV cable systems according to IEC 62067 to demonstrate satisfactory long term performance of the compelete cable system. The cable system includes EHV cable along with all types of EHV accessories and different laying conditions (air, underground and tunnel) to simulate actual utilites’ network. El Sewedy performed PQ test with 2500 mm2 copper 220 kV cable with two outdoor teminations (Porcelain/Composite), four crossbonding joints and two SF6 terminations supplied by nkt Germany.
The cable system exposed to one year test at 216 kV and maintained conductor temperature of 90-95 ̊C.
Also El Sewedy measured partial discharge test at start/middle/finish of PQ test and with non-detectable/free PD for the first time worldwide.
