CommScope, a leader in communications network infrastructure solutions, is enhancing its suite of fiber products and services to enable communication service providers to meet customer demand and plan for the future with  solutions for speed, simplicity and savings. With the acquisition of TE Connectivity’s telecom, enterprise and wireless business, CommScope has significantly expanded its fiber connectivity solutions for service providers.

“The past decade brought disruption and diversification for service providers as they faced new competition and demands from consumers,” said Werner de Wolf, senior vice president of Service Provider Solutions, CommScope. “Driving fiber deeper in the network can help address the need for speed, simplicity and savings.”

Service providers are expecting more from their fiber networks and that expectation involves many areas, including speed to market, simplifying deployments and maximizing savings. CommScope’s new and existing services and solutions address each of these areas.

CommScope offers innovative solutions for reducing the time and cost to roll out extensive fiber deployments for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) networks. CommScope’s comprehensive approach revolutionizes network topology in two ways:

  • Allowing daisy chain service terminals, rather than star configuration, to use plug-and-play connectors, resulting in reduced labor costs and faster deployment.
  • Adding pre-connectorized cables that enable faster fiber deployment and reduced amounts of cabling.

These approaches are estimated to get fiber networks deployed up to 70 percent faster, creating major savings for operators.

Speed is only one factor in building out the network. Simplifying the network is also critical. CommScope has a portfolio of products designed to help network operators and technicians keep it simple. Key to the portfolio is the Rapid Fiber™ System, which reduces fiber cable congestion and offers easy installation. For further simplicity, CommScope recently added Rapid Fiber solutions for multi-dwelling units with pre-terminated connections and integrated over-length management to help minimize issues as well as speed up deployment.

Saving money and maximizing investments is a key element for service providers. One of the ways to maximize investments is with a fiber distribution hub (FDH). The latest addition, FDH4000, is a sealed closure designed for use in underground locations. It is scalable up to 144 distribution and 12-72 feeder ports, allowing service providers to quickly increase capacity with minimal investment. It also reduces or eliminates the need for permitting.

CommScope will demonstrate its portfolio for service providers at 2016 FTTH Connect in Nashville, TN from June 13-15. Additionally, CommScope experts will present on the topics of training and education, network planning, future technologies and global trends.
