On Tuesday, September 29th, the transport of a 30 ton cable and reel from TKF to Germany took place. The cable, with a total length of 3146 meters and a diameter of 70 mm, was transported on a 3.8 meter wide reel, currently the largest end reel that TKF can handle at its plant.
The subsea cable will be placed in a lake in the south of Germany, where the installation will take place by BTT Freimoser, an international specialist in amongst other, the power supply for snow cannons and the lighting of ski slopes. They were commissioned by the local government for their knowledge and expertise in installing cables on inconvenient locations.
It seemed that the task could not be accomplished because of the search for the correct length and type of cable. Eventually BTT Freimoser found its way to Jörg Langrock, director of Wiking Kabel, normally specialized in marine cables, partner of TKF since 2010. Thanks to the quick arrangement of Wiking Kabel and an intensive and effective collaboration, the right solution for this client was found. The cable is arrived successfully and will be installed shortly.
